Visits to the hospital KK

18th April 2005. It’s the 1st time mummy and daddy went to Kandang Kerbau Hospital (KKH). We were referred by Dr Yap to KK. We went with much anxiety. Dr Judy Wong was the Gynecologist. She could not determine mummy due date. She sent mummy for a fetus scan at ADC. We went there at around 12 noon, but the nurse there could not find the heart for a good scan. So we were asked to come back again after lunch at 2pm. After the scan, we had to go and see the doctor again. The whole check-up took about 6 hours. A very tiring day!...Still could not see the baby’s gender but had to go for another check-up in 4 weeks time and need to do another growth scan. Mummy weighs 97kg.

18th May 2005, The 2nd visit to KKH. We had a growth scan. We reach there around 10:20am. Appointment was at 10:15am. Went for the scan 1st. The nurse said that the baby was too small and mummy had to go for another growth scan in 2 weeks time to ensure that the baby received enough blood through the umbilical cord. The placenta flow was also checked. Everything was fine. Later, mummy and daddy went to see the doctor and the doctor again confirmed that the baby was too small and she needed to see us in another 3 weeks time. Mummy gained another 4kg.(wow!) We spend about 5-6 hours at the hospital plus the waiting time to take the vitamins (calcium and obimin). The nurse said the baby is a boy.

3rd June 2005. The 3rd visits to KKH for a growth scan only. The baby was still very small, but everything was normal. So had to consult the doctor 1st to confirm whether mummy need another scan or not.

10th June 2005. The 4th visits to the hospital to consult with the doctor. Daddy could not accompany mummy on that day, but Nyayi and Aunty Aisah did. Supposed to be a quite short visit but the doctor was called away for an emergency delivery. We waited for almost 2 hours. The doctor confirmed that the baby was small. The due date that she gave us was 21st August 2005, plus or minus 3weeks. Very vague, phem… Well, mummy need to go for another growth scan in 4 weeks time. Mummy gained another 2kg.

8th July 2005. The 5th visits to the hospital. The scan went well. The baby was catching up on its growth. The check-up went well. The nurse confirmed again that it’s a baby boy.
Mummy and daddy also went to booked a package in the hospital to prepare us for the delivery. It’s a A1 ward and since it’s a package, mummy is supposed to stay in the hospital for 3 days and 2 nights. Everything going about just fine.

29th July 2005. No more scanning needed. Mummy went to the hospital with Nyayi, aunty Salinah and aunty Salehah. Everything went fine. It’s a very short visit. Now the doctor needed to see mummy every week. Mummy now weighed 107.2kg. (AARrrrrggghhh…) Later, we went around Bugis. Very tiring… hehehee…

5th Aug 2005. The 7th visits to KKH. Daddy, Nyayi and aunty Salinah accompanied mummy to the hospital. Mummy had to go for an AFI and EFW(estimated fetus weight) scan. This scan was very fast. The doctor check-up was quick too. The doctor did a vaginal check-up. The baby had not gone down into the pelvic and the cervix had not opened. Going for another check-up in a week time. Mummy weighed 108.3kg.

7th Aug 2005. Not a visit to the hospital but went to watch a movie ‘Stealth’ and mummy had some cramping on the tummy and back. Mummy did not know whether it’s a contraction. Later found out that it’s a false alarm. The cramps last for a few hours then later disappeared.

Visits to the Clinic

29th January 2005

It was a Saturday morning, 29th January 2005. The doctor had asked us to come back for a second scan since the 1st was not that clear. The doctor still could not determine the period of the pregnancy because the womb was hard to find. The baby heartbeat was also not clear, so mummy was referred to the General Hospital for another scan. The appointment is on Monday 31st January 2005 at 9am.

31st January 2005

It was a Monday morning, 31st January 2005. Mummy and daddy went to Singapore General Hospital early in the morning. Daddy took leave for that day just to accompany mummy, but mummy can only take time off. Well, the scan went very well. The baby heart beat is normal. Everything is fine. Mummy could see the baby tiny hands and legs. The heartbeat is pumping super-fast, but that’s considered normal. Then we went back to Dr. Yap and she read the report. She said that the baby is 9 to 10 weeks old, but can’t be. Then she read further on. Okie. Mummy’s 8.3 weeks pregnant and the baby’s 19mm long. Just as long as an adult’s thumb nail.

26th February 2005

26th February 2005 was a Saturday. Mummy and daddy went to the clinic (Yang & Yap) in the morning. Mummy had another scan to check whether the baby is healthy and normal. Anyway the doctor checked mummy blood pressure, urine and weight. Mummy weighs 94kg (heavy, huh). Anyway the doctor also wants to do a blood test (for HIV and some other related blood thingy). The doctor couldn’t find a vein to take the blood (heheeheee!) Mummy’s arms are well-cushioned, so had to take from mummy’s hand. Mummy’s given a vitamin called ‘obimin’ and will have to see the doctor again in one month time.

26th March 2005

26th March 2005 was another Saturday. Mummy and daddy went to the clinic (Yang & Yap) in the morning around 10am. We had to wait for about 1 ½hr to see the doctor. Mummy had another scan to check the growth of our little one. Anyway the doctor checked mummy blood pressure, urine and weight again. Mummy gains another 2kg, now weighing at 96kg. Mommy blood test was back and everything is fine. Next month, Dr Yap is going to refer us to the specialist at KKH. So, mummy and daddy are looking out for a good specialist. Still do not know the gender for our baby.
